Autel Energy, a provider of EV charging products, has introduced a high-powered charging system in the MaxiCharger DT1000 Series, which incorporates Phoenix Contact’s 1,000A liquid-cooled CCS Type 2 cable and connector system. It comes as part of Autel Energy’s product launch event “Infinite Power – Starting from Zero”.
The integration of Phoenix Contact’s high-current technology into Autel Energy’s newest megawatt-class chargers serves high-power applications, including commercial fleet and heavy-duty vehicle charging, and enhance system-level compatibility and thermal stability, the company says.
Andreas Lastei, Vice President of Autel Energy Europe, commented on how the collaboration will affect high-power CCS charging. “By integrating Phoenix Contact’s new CCS2 connector into our MaxiCharger DT1000, we can bring this technology into a complete system – from modular cabinets to dispensers – enabling the highest charging performance on CCS where it’s needed today.”
Phoenix Contact’s latest CCS Type 2 cable and connector system remains cool under heavy use. Its cable design is intended to carry 800A continuously and can support shorter boosts of loads up to 1,000A, all with a lightweight and flexible design.
It can also monitor its own temperature via pt1000 temperature sensors to prevent overheating, and features insulation monitoring that detects faults or potential safety risks. Its IP67 protection also helps ensure durability in tough environments.
Joachim Pucker, Senior Director of E-Mobility Sales Network at Phoenix Contact, said the cable and connector “significantly narrow the performance gap between CCS and MCS charging stations. While this does not make the MCS standard obsolete, it broadens the application range of CCS-based charging solutions and helps reduce the costs of infrastructure expansion, particularly for long-haul transportation.”
The MaxiCharger DT1000 series was designed for high-current delivery and efficient thermal management. Its modular architecture allows scaling from mid-range to megawatt deployments.
Applied to the connector interface, its liquid cooling capability can ensure stable performances, and it’s compatible with Autel’s latest liquid-cooled modules, simplifying infrastructures for logistics hubs and intercity bus terminals.
The companies state CCS2 technology is ready to power Europe’s next-generation charging infrastructure, and could help accelerate the deployment of high-power EV charging stations for future generations of electric vehicles.
